This is a fulltime, three (3) year fixed term contract opportunity. ABOUT US: The Dolphins are a professional rugby league team in the NRL. The Dolphins have a 76-year history in grass roots rugby league and the community after being founded in 1947. The Dolphins enjoyed a memorable inaugural season in the NRL in 2023, defying expectations with their performances on the field including a memorable victory over the Sydney Roosters in their opening match, establishing the ‘Phins Up’ movement, playing in front of sold-out stadiums, attracting over 30,000 members, and securing fantastic partnerships with a number of national brands. The second season continued to build upon our great foundation, improving on the league ladder, unearthing a new generation of star players, winning our first Battle for Brisbane in front of a sold out sea of red and increasing membership to 35,364. Success for the Dolphins does not only involve winning matches on the field and trophies for the cabinet, but also the improvement and growth of our players, staff and community off-the-field in all their endeavours. It also means leading the expansion of both the NRL and the game of rugby league amongst new markets and potential fans. POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting into the Dolphins NRL Game Development Manager, the Community and Sports Development Officer will be responsible for planning and carrying out the day-to-day activities of coaching and development for Dolphins NRL and Yaralla Sports Club in an efficient, professional and ethical manner. They will assist rugby league and other identified sports and community initiatives including coaching, development, education and programs (schools, Juniors and associated sporting clubs) in the Gladstone Region. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, program, and coordinate coaching and development activities for Dolphins NRL and Yaralla Sports Club Provide direction, advice, and support to targeted sports clubs and schools in the Gladstone region Liaise with internal business unit managers at Yaralla Sporting Clubs Implement the Sports Leadership Program for community initiatives Facilitate coach education support sessions and training sessions in schools and clubs Represent Dolphins NRL & Yaralla Sports Club at official functions SKILLS: Strong knowledge and experience in Rugby League and other sporting codes Communication skills to network and build effective relationships with key stakeholders Experience in program development and project, people and budgetary management Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work in a team environment Experience in event management Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years of experience in coaching and development within the sports industry Relevant sporting industry qualifications – desirable QLD Blue Card Police Check Drivers’ License Please tailor your application specifically towards this role as a Community and Sports Development Officer – Gladstone working closely with Dolphins NRL Game Development Manager.
