John Hunter Children’s Hospital (JHCH) is part of The Children, Young People and Families Directorate of Hunter New England Local Health District. It is one of three tertiary children’s hospitals in NSW, the only one situated outside of a capital city.
About the job:
1. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) and the Team often provide the first point of contact for patients and families, coordinating care and management plans.
2. In this role you will attend ward rounds, outpatient reviews and home visits.
3. The CNC provides senior-level Nursing support, education and teaching to colleagues within the JHCH and across the LHD.
4. In this position our CNC will attend when rostered, weekly IDT meetings and other clinical meetings.
5. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within an Interdisciplinary Team providing Specialist Paediatric Palliative Care to patients and families.
6. In this role you will job-share with another CNC.
7. All relevant HNE Kids orientation as well as HNE corporate orientation required. Orientation to the PPCS Team will occur via morning huddles, shadowing with existing CNC and formal and informal support from the medical and other team members.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
15. Excellent clinical skills and highly developed communication skills with personal attributes of kindness, compassion and a sense of humour.
16. Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
17. Post registration qualifications relevant to the area of Paediatric Nursing/Paediatric Palliative Care and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience in Paediatric Nursing, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent experience working within the specialty field of paediatric palliative care.
