Thornlie Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of hardworking and enthusiastic Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Teachers who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are sought from teachers who can support and promote this plan.
Suitable applicants will ideally have sound interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and the ability to work cooperatively in the HASS Learning Area team. Good classroom management, the ability to develop rapport and motivate students, the ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and the ability to practise a range of teaching strategies are highly desirable for this position.
Ideally, suitable teachers should be able to engage students and challenge them to achieve their personal best. They should be able to work effectively in a team and independently while supporting the initiatives and programs in HASS within Thornlie SHS. In addition, they should engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents, and external networks.

9. obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

12. complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
13. complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
14. complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
