ISLHD – Staff Specialist Neurologist Employment Type: PermanentPosition Classification: Staff SpecialistRequisition ID: 503108 Hours Per Week: Up to 1.0 FTE Applications Close: 21 November 2024 Staff Specialist Neurologists in the ISLHD will integrate with our existing team of six Neurologists at TWH plus one based at Shoalhaven, with anticipation of a further 1.0 FTE Stroke Lead/Neurologist joining us in the short term. Our district is committed to consolidating and developing Neurology and Stroke services, and we are excited to expand our team in the beautiful Illawarra region. We seek experienced Neurologists with a high level of expertise who can demonstrate commitment and capability to deliver Neurology services within the ISLHD. The Neurologist will provide clinical care to Neurology patients, including Stroke patients, with clinical responsibilities including call and outpatient care. This role involves participation in all Neurology Department activities, including General Neurology and acute and subacute Stroke on-call rosters, as well as clinical consultation services onsite and remotely across the district. The role incorporates scope for subspecialty interest, particularly in Neuroimmunology, Cognitive Neurology/Neurodegenerative, Headache, and Neuromuscular subspecialties. The Neurologist will support the development of Neurology services, facilitating a culture of learning and best practice, participating in teaching and clinical governance activities, and supporting service development and research objectives. The role encompasses participation in General Neurology Department activities, including both General Neurology and acute and subacute Stroke clinical duties, and some participation in the on-call roster. Selection Criteria Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology and/or equivalent and specialist recognition and further training qualifications in Stroke. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the position's scope of practice requirements. Proven capacity and/or experience in providing effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice. Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
