About the role
An exciting career opportunity exists in our busy Melbourne office for an experienced full-time Legal Secretary in our Commercial Litigation practice group.
A Partner, a Senior Associate, an Associate, a Lawyer and a paralegal require administrative support.
The Team
He is an accomplished commercial litigator with a strong focus in corporate and personal insolvency, tax, property finance and partnership disputes. Occasionally, he will assist his clients in criminal matters ranging from assault, possession, and fraud. Sazz has a very hands-on approach with his clientele and will often verbalise instructions which is why it's important to have someone working in the office. Friendly approach and uses a sense of humour to break the ice.
Melissa's expertise is also commercial litigation working as SIC to Sazz. She is highly organised, very friendly and approachable for any queries and questions.
Some of your duties will include:
Preparing affidavits and other court documents Preparing briefs to counsel and court books File opening and drafting costs agreements File management – undertaking conflict checks, file opening, drafting costs agreements, saving correspondence and documents to files Preparing billing reports and issuing tax invoices Diary management and scheduling meetings Conducting property, personal and company searches Liaising with clients, mediators, barristers and other stakeholders Arranging travel (flights and accommodation) and assisting with business development activities About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a Legal Secretary with at least 2-3 years of proven experience in Litigation, who thrives in a busy environment. Your ability to work cohesively in a team, as well as autonomously will be valued, as will your strong commitment to outstanding customer service. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate initiative and good judgement, and have exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail. Your prior experience in a defendant setting, or in the practice area specialising in Commercial Litigation will be highly regarded.
Must have a high level of proficiency with using Microsoft Office (ie.
