The Sports field Maintenance Officer is responsible for carrying out programmed mowing maintenance and improvement works at various Sports reserves, parks, and designated areas within the Hume municipality.
What you’ll be doing:
* Maintain and improve designated sports fields, passive reserve, and other recreational areas.
* Operate Tractors, Front Deck Mowers, Wide Area Mowers, Cylinder mowers, Trucks, Brush-cutters, and other turf related machinery to assist with the maintenance, improvement, and development of Council's assets.
* Inspect / report any damage, vandalism, and/or hazards at each work site prior to work commencing operations and where required report to team leader or relevant council officers.
* Assist in ensuring all staff members possess adequate knowledge equipment usage, including all relevant safety policies, procedures, and inductions.
* Ensure all plant and equipment is fully operational and returned to its allocated location at the end of each day’s usage.
* Assist in accurate recording of work undertaken, for the effective monitoring of the service.
* Assist in recording of plant and its usage of each work site.
* Drive various Council vehicles to transport staff, equipment, supplies to various work sites around the Hume municipality.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
* Demonstrated relevant knowledge and experience in the safe operation and maintenance of Tractors, Front Deck mowers, cylinder mowers, Wide Area Mowers, Trucks and associated plant and equipment.
* A basic understanding of requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and relevant Safety Standards and Codes within the industry.
* Experience in maintaining and improving sport fields, parkland, and various open space reserves.
* Ability to deal with difficult situations with composure and personalism representing Council in a positive manner.
* Knowledge and practical application of pruning equipment.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
* Certificate III or higher qualification in Horticulture or relevant discipline is preferred but not essential.
* Medium Rigid Truck Licence is preferred but not essential.
* Current driver’s licence.
