Randstad has been given the opportunity to recruit a key senior leadership position for one of our Manufacturing clients in North West Melbourne, paying upwards of $110k + super depending on experience. This fantastic opportunity offers the candidate an entry into the business as Production Manager, responsible for one of the business unit's within its Manufacturing and assembly businesses.
As Production Manager you will hold responsibility for a team of 30+, along with a Senior Supervisor and an Administration Manager. You will ideally come from a strong technical (ideally mechanical) background and proven experience managing a similar sized workforce within the manufacturing or production space.
The role-
* Ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted safely.
* Plan, coordinate and manage the business area’s manufacturing processes to ensure delivery of efficient and profitable products and services meeting established profit, quality, time frames and budget outcomes.
* Effectively develop and enhance production team capabilities;and their contribution to business performance and results.
Key Responsibilities-
* Manage the effective identification and rectification of hazards through suitable safety systems
* Actively participate in toolbox meetings, safety alerts, and communicate safety initiatives to the team
* Manage the effective rehabilitation of injured employees, as per agreed Return To Work Plans, to achieve the earliest possible return date
* Deliver profitable operational performance including customer expectations are met in full and on time and ensure the most efficient use of labour; with particular attention to monitoring and addressing employee absenteeism
* Monitor production targets (KPIs), conduct regular meetings with shift supervisors, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Resolve problematic orders and provide constructive feedback on production, loading, and operational matters.
* Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, maintenance teams, logistics carriers, and key decision-makers.
* Manage human resources in line with budget framework, including the utilisation of casual labour and recommendations for transitioning to permanent status.
* Make prompt and clear decisions, take responsibility for actions and projects, and initiate necessary actions.
About you-
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, Ideally mechanical
* At least five years direct experience in a production management role, within a manufacturing, industrial or similar environment, with a wide range of related knowledge on manufacturing processes, preferably furnishing related
* Min 2 years direct operational team management
* Has a working understanding of production planning, scheduling and procurement
