Fully Remote Payroll Officer - MicrOpay - ASAP Start - initial 6 month contract - possibility to go perm About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processing for our education-focused client. In this role, you will handle fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles using the Micropay system. You will also assist the payroll team as the company transitions to the Ascender pay system, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the software transformation project. Key Responsibilities: Process end-to-end payroll for both fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles using the Micropay system. Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees, adhering to organizational policies and industry regulations. Handle payroll-related queries from employees and management, providing accurate and timely responses. Maintain and update employee payroll records, including leave balances, superannuation, and other statutory obligations. Collaborate with the HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll data accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Assist in the software transformation project from Micropay to Ascender pay, supporting testing, data migration, and implementation. Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, awards, and agreements in the education sector. Prepare and submit payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to management. Stay updated on payroll best practices, industry standards, and legislative changes. Skills and Experience Required: Proven experience as a Payroll Officer, with hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing. Proficiency in using the Micropay payroll system. Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and compliance within the education sector is a plus. Experience with payroll systems migration or transformation projects is desirable (Ascender pay experience would be advantageous but not required). Excellent numerical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fully remote environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
