The Location:

Located only two hours north of Melbourne, the area features magnificent food and wine, glorious weather and all the attractions and activities you could imagine in a regional city. The Facility:
This is a 280 bed acute and extended care facility which provides surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and psychiatry services as well as extended care and regional services. A high incidence of road accidents, skin cancer, farm injuries and work safety accidents occur in the region. Population numbers swell during the fruit harvest season when an estimated 10,000 itinerant workers from throughout Australia and overseas visit the region. Snake bites, cuts, scratches to the eyes from branches, injuries caused by falling from a fruit picking ladder and allergic reactions are among the most common conditions treated during the this period.
The Department:
There are 7,800 surgical procedures, 1,200 deliveries and 34,000 Emergency Department presentations a year. The six general surgeons are supported by anaesthetists, orthopaedic surgeons, obstetricians and gynaecologists and a urologist, all of whom are resident locally. There is additional specialist surgical support from visiting surgeons; general medicine support from locally resident physicians with a range of subspecialty interests; plus registrars, HMOs, interns and specialist nursing staff. GVH is recognized by the RACS for advanced surgical training.
The Offer:
In short this is one of the highest paying public sector General Surgeon positions in Australia. The overall package is higher than the public sector award in QLD and WA.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team and be supported by an
aesthetists, orthopaedic surgeons, obstetricians and gynaecologists.
The position will involve taking part in the on-call roster and dealing with a range of emergencies, elective operations and outpatient clinics.

* Current full registration with AHPRA
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
