Sky News is looking for an experienced reporter who can lead coverage of the important Business vertical on SkyNews.com.au.
Sky News is an industry leader when it comes to business journalism and this position is a chance to work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry.
The Business Reporter will be at the forefront of breaking news related to major Australian companies, the movement of top executives and changes in the market. A strong understanding of the ASX and global markets is essential in this position and your ability to build contacts and break exclusive stories will be the key to success.
Work closely with veteran business broadcaster Ross Greenwood, host of Business Now, which airs every weekday afternoon and collaborate on big interviews and exclusive news lines.
Key Responsibilities:Edit and curate the SkyNews.com.au homepage with the best performing contentUse WordPress CMS to build stories, assign them to appropriate sections and liaise with social media teamsUnderstand the immediacy of the digital and television news environments and how best to leverage broadcast content for digital assetsIdentify newsworthy content from our television channels and ensure this is delivered to our online audience quickly and accurately into the news cycleUnderstand what content works for which platforms and target content specifically for Digital platformsWork in a fast-paced team environment which involves liaising with the Digital Video teams, and on-air teams to turn around exclusive content quickly.Who are you?Experience in a busy newsroom is ideal and management experience is preferredImpeccable sub-editing skills and a proven track-record of breaking news storiesPossess mature and seasoned news judgement to help navigate story pitches from the staff and prioritise the most important issuesAbility to navigate complicated political discussionsA positive attitude with enthusiasm for sharing ideas and learning new skillsAbility to work unsupervised, to tight deadlines and under pressureExcellent time management and organisational skillsNews BenefitsNews Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
