Our organisation comprises the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, supporting other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
Purpose of the Role
The functions of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are unique. We deliver high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency, ensuring improved safety outcomes for the community.
Key Requirements
Mandatory Requirements:
- Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
- Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station
- Australian Permanent Resident Status
- Manual C-Class driver's licence
As an auxiliary firefighter, you will be expected to commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours, or 30% as a shift worker or with non-routine hours, and participate in regular drills and training sessions.
Your key accountabilities include responding to fire and emergency incidents, promoting community safety, developing and maintaining competencies, operating specialist firefighting and rescue equipment, contributing to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities, and incident reporting.
