Job Title: After School Care Leader Appointed by: PrincipalReporting to: PrincipalContract: 46 hours/fortnight, including 16 hours non-contact (planning/reporting) and 30 hours of contact with children.Summary Milkwood Steiner School is situated on Larrakia land (Darwin), in the tropical north of Australia delivering a Steiner Curriculum to 170 students from Kindergarten to Class 8.Our school has unique large tropical style buildings with classrooms that open out on to broad verandas, with a playground that extends to a beautiful native bushland.We are a thriving, growing school, with a welcoming community and children from diverse cultural backgrounds.Our College of Teachers are committed to applying the richness of a Steiner Education to the unique cultural and environmental context of Australia's Top End.Milkwood Steiner School recognises the different needs of families in our community and offers a holistic After School Care program which aligns with the school's values.The After School Care coordinator is a person who loves working actively, creatively and responsively with children, who is capable of working with a high level of independence and integrity.They develop and run a program for a group of up to 25 children aged 5-13, comprising some who attend regularly and some who access the service only occasionally.The person in this role enjoys facilitating meaningful activities for this multi-age group and can do so independently, but knows how to seek support.They are confident communicating in writing, via email, phone and face to face, with parents, community, staff and management, and they are an excellent colleague and collaborator.The After School Care room is used by other diverse programs during school hours, including parent groups, workshops, playgroups, and the ASC coordinator develops strategies for using the space with the best interests of all its users in mind.Key Responsibilities In consultation with the Educational Advisor, develop and implement an enriching, Steiner-inspired After School Care program.Provide supervision, programming and duty of care for children after school hours in ways that embody the values, ethos, policies and best practice of Milkwood Steiner School.Work effectively with the College of Teachers, Principal and Administration staff.Maintain accurate records of programming, attendance, incidents, behaviour and mandatory reporting as required.Plan, implement, document, assess and report on ASC program guided by the ASC Quality Improvement Plan and ACECQA requirements.Communicate effectively with parents via email, phone or face-to-face.Attend relevant meetings, including a reasonable number of planning meetings, at the discretion of the Principal.Care for the ASC Room and manage the ASC budget, ensuring that the aesthetics, layout and management of the room reflect the cultural values of Milkwood Steiner School and support the space's other uses.A love for children and a commitment to the principles of Steiner Education.Experience working independently in childcare, youth or education settings.Skills to plan, deliver, document and continually improve on a child-focused Steiner ASC program, including skills in classroom and behavior management.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community including demonstrated skills in communication.Specialist subject area training, skills, strengths or interests (arts, crafts, games, cooking, etc).An interest in participating in areas of the school's professional and cultural life and being an active member of the school's professional community.Training or experience in a Steiner setting, or an interest in further development in areas of Steiner Education.ECT Qualifications.Previous experience in an ACECQA-registered service (early childhood or OSHS).Applications to include Cover Letter addressing the selection criteria.CV.2 referees.Valid First Aid qualification, Ochre Card and approved qualification from list provided (interstate applicants may note their eligibility for an Ochre Card if they don't have one at point of application).Steiner Education Australia is the peak body for Australian Steiner schools.Steiner Education Australia acknowledges the traditional owners of this vast and beautiful land and its seas for which the First Peoples have acted as custodians for tens of thousands of years.We pay our respects to them and their cultures and to the elders past, present and future.We acknowledge the original spiritual sovereignty of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and commit to consideration and support of their aspirations towards the future as expressed in the 2017 Uluru Statement from the Heart. #J-18808-Ljbffr
