About the Role
The Bell Captain will oversee the day-to-day operation of permanent and casual Porters and Commissionaires with the assistance of the Service Leaders (Senior Porters), particularly their performance in the delivery/retrieval of guest luggage, meeting and greeting guests and assisting with general enquiries.
* Co-ordinate the activities of both Service Leaders (Senior Porters) and Service Associates (Commissionaires & Porters) and assign tasks as necessary; ensure that all guest luggage is expediently handled and delivered and not “scattered” in either the Hotel’s lobby or at the main entrance.
* Maintain an effective flow of communication within the Bell Department and co-ordinate with other Front Office and Hotel departments as necessary.
* Attend the daily Front Office briefing or delegate the responsibility to a suitable
colleague. Share briefing notes from that forum with other colleagues on shift
* Have thorough knowledge of all guest rooms and suites and their location and amenities; ensure that all Service Associates (Porters) are familiar with same.
* Ensure that all assigned colleagues are familiar with hotel facilities, services and functions as well as city-wide events and local attractions.
* Co-ordinate guest transportation and automobile needs as requested; supervise Service Associates (Commissionaires) in the maintenance and control of all vehicles on the Porte Cochere.
* Produce fortnightly rosters for Service Leaders and all Service Associates. Use a yearly planner to assist with leave planning of Service Leaders and Associates in the department as approved by Chief Concierge or Guest Service Manager.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Concierge or Senior Management team.
About You
* Experience in Hotel Environment
* Full Drivers Licence
* Supervisory experience in a similar setting
* Excellent communication skills in reading and writing English
* Understanding of workplace practices in Work Health and Safety
* You must have full working rights in Australia
