It works collaboratively with the travelling public, the workforce, industry and across government to unlock services, economic potential, and social connectivity.As part of Transport for NSW’s transformative agenda, the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) has been established to enhance the safety and reliability of the state's rail assets, facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure, while also allowing for efficient operations and asset surety.TAM will manage the NSW rail asset portfolio for the rail agencies to operate, promote access for freight operators, and streamline negotiations for access agreements – simplifying asset management by consolidating responsibilities within a single entity, reducing overlap and enhancing strategic planning for public investment.As a separate NSW statutory corporation, TAM will provide assurance to aid the planning, procurement and maintenance of the State's transport assets, operating under Ministerial oversight and with an expert advisory board. TAM’s primary objective is to ensure a safe and reliable network, and detailed long-term financial certainty.The OpportunityReporting to the Minister and as a member of the Transport portfolio’s executive team, the Chief Executive will lead the establishment of the organisation, including working with the broader Transport for NSW team to finalise the contractual, commercial and administrative arrangements needed for this new operating model. You will bring a clear focus on large scale asset management – particularly strategic oversight and assurance for the State’s transport assets, while collaborating closely with Transport for NSW for the overall policy and planning for the transport network.The Chief Executive will lead a team of subject matter experts and will foster a culture of collaboration and partnership, working constructively within the broader NSW transport ecosystem to deliver on the Secretary’s Statement of Expectations for this pivotal statutory role.About YouYou will be a highly experienced asset specialist, with deep technical expertise in large scale asset management, and an understanding of reliability and safety. While familiarity with government operational and decision-making frameworks will be useful, the key sector expertise may be drawn from transport, property, mining, utilities or other critical or regulated infrastructure. Candidates will need to demonstrate highly developed strategic and commercial capabilities, to deliver on a long term strategic vision for a diverse and growing asset base.
