About Us:
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is a unique emergency service agency responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland. We provide effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities across various emergency situations.
We comprise the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, supporting other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
Purpose of the Role:
The functions of QFES are distinct in Australia. As the only entity delivering high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency, we collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve improved safety outcomes for the community.
Key Requirements:
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Obtain your employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
- Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station
- Be an Australian Permanent Resident Status
- Hold a Manual C Class driver's licence
As an auxiliary firefighter, you will commit to attending incident and emergency calls, attending regular drill and training sessions, obtaining an MRV licence, participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, and complying with QFES policies and procedures.
Your Key Accountabilities:
- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as part of a team.
- Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
- Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses provided by QFES.
- Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
- Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
- Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities and ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and facilities.
- Participate in incident reporting and general station administration as required.
