Due to continued success of the integration of the combat systems modernisation program into the Hobart class DDGs, we have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Platform Engineering Lead to join us in Osborne, Adelaide!This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a successful multi-disciplined Engineering team and work alongside industry leaders and like-minded engineers on exciting new naval ship designs.In this role, you will:Apply engineering knowledge and experience to the execution of a large and complex engineering and shipbuilding project, incorporating multiple system changes and upgrades.Apply engineering knowledge and experience in the integration of electric plant, electric distribution, lighting, and Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) elements as part of a complex ship upgrade.Provide onsite platform system engineering design and support the Melbourne Design Engineering Centre (DEC).Provide onsite support for the revision or amendment of the TDP as necessary.Provide support for the preparation and revision of SHIPALT as necessary.Engage with the PI, Combat System Integrator (Lockheed Martin Australia & Saab), BAE Systems, Capability Enhancement and Integration Project (CEIP) and DDGSPO representatives as necessary.Coordinate with other members of the onsite platform engineering team, as well as reach back and coordination with the DEC based in Melbourne for the TDP and overall design aspects.Manage engineering change, including PIRs, Deviations and locally delegated engineering changes.Act under the delegated authority of the DDG Design Authority in support of the DDG Phase 6 Support Team Manager and DDG Phase 6 Program Manager.As an ideal candidate, you will have:8 years’ experience in a relevant engineering or marine environment working in a shipbuilding or related engineering role.Experience in the integration of Electrical or electronic systems on naval ship platforms.Experience in complex ship upgrade, maintenance or repair activities (Desirable).Excellent project management skills.Very strong interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment.Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients.Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently.Competent in the understanding of and development of engineering documentation and engineering drawings.What it’s like to work with Navantia Australia:Navantia Australia plays a key part in the Australian government's Naval Shipbuilding Plan.
