About The Role:
As a member of our kitchen team, you will ensure a high standard of food service within our residential aged care home. You will work alongside the Companions, ensuring that residents receive the highest quality dining experience every time. You will assist the Chef with food preparation: e.g. side salads, sandwiches, plating desserts, and vegetable preparation and may assist in the Café and delivering meals within the Home or the Village.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Undertake food production, stock control and food storage, preparation, cooking, presentation, and delivery in line with federal and state food safety and aged care legislation, regulation, and best practice.
* Assist the Chef in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
* Morning tea, afternoon tea and supper trolley runs, you must be able to find your way around and deliver hot and cold beverages, biscuits, cakes, and sandwiches to rooms.
* Water jug delivery morning and supper (fresh cold water first thing every morning and second delivery at supper trolley run).
* Assist in coffee shop as required.
* Be able to do room delivery of special meals or meals ordered from the retirement village.
* Be able to work around people, be polite and accepting of resident input.
* Use the dishwasher and keep kitchen tidy and clean.
* Ensure the agreed mealtimes are adhered to and that meals are provided in a consistent high quality, person centred and efficient manner.
* Follow sanitation practices to ensure that all employees meet established standards.
* Follow systems to ensure retention of catering records for audit and accountability purposes.
* Work as a team member and provide a supportive environment for all employees, including acting as a ‘buddy’ to new employees when required.

The Shoreline is the newest luxury aged care facility on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The precinct boasts a fresh, resort-like atmosphere and a focus on high quality care of our aged residents and building a community in the superb beach side location where we live and work. In operation for under a year, The Shoreline is retirement living and premium residential aged care all packaged into one breathtaking coastal site. The care facility is located within the village of luxury units and villas and is a stone’s throw away from a major shopping centre, beautiful beaches, and restaurants. About You:
As a kitchen hand in a residential aged care facility, you will possess a keen eye for detail, diligence to perform your role to a high standard and a keen work ethic. You have some knowledge of chemicals usage and health and hygiene practices in a commercial kitchen. You have outstanding organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure whilst striving for continuous improvement. Above all, you are committed to making a difference in the lives of our aging residents through food.
To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and attributes:
* Commercial kitchen experience (desirable)
* An understanding of how to maintain a safe and clean environment for residents, staff, and visitors
* Demonstrated empathy with and commitment to the care of older people
* Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and excellent customer service skills
* Demonstrated understanding of and experience in delivering exceptional customer centred service outcomes
* Ability to model behaviours that align with the Shoreline's vision and CREED
* Police check clearance; and
* Up-to-date vaccination as required by legislation or industry best practice from time to time.
