Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a 2/1 FIFO Construction Manager with extensive experience in FRP concrete projects and with a genuine interest to positively influence project delivery and promote a memorable culture at Whittens.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, your overall responsibility is to provide onsite leadership coordination and oversite of the construction workforce including direct labour, subcontractors, and plant, ensuring all construction works are executed safely, efficiently, and effectively meeting client, HSE, quality, time, budget, and contractual requirements. Other duties include:
* Supporting the Project management team to champion a culture of high performance onsite
* Demonstrate strong and visible leadership skills through your behaviours, effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Contribute to the manning schedule to ensure adequately skilled and qualified candidates are planned for the project and take lead on the technical aspects of the job requirements during interviews
* Support the Project Manager in the delivery of work program(s), including participation in weekly reviews
* Contribute to and build a strong safety culture
* Consistently monitoring resource and plant productivities to ensure program requirements are met.
* Participate in safety investigations, implementing any actions and relevant learnings
* Proactively manage employee Superintendent's performance and conduct thorough performance discussions
* Sound knowledge and understanding of the Contract to ensure ongoing compliance with the scope of work, specifications, drawings and subcontracts
* Monitor and control costs within your remit, particularly direct costs of plant and labour ensuring optimisation of available resources
* Provide effective communication, information flows, procedures and records necessary to facilitate delivery of contract and quality requirements
About You
To be successful, you will have the following:
* Demonstrated experience as a Construction Manager overseeing remote Concrete FRP projects
* Demonstrated experience working in a FIFO/DIDO capacity
* Excellent planning, monitoring and documentation skills
* Demonstrated safety and environmental leadership behaviour
* Self-starter, with well-developed organisational and stakeholder management skills
* Flexible and able to work under pressure and to deadlines
* MS Office skills, particularly Excel or planning software such as P6
* Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to problem solve
