About the Role
The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services, also known as "Locals", act as a front door to the mental health service system. The service provides a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.
Key Responsibilities
* Utilise your own lived/living experience of mental ill health, alcohol and other drugs challenges and recovery to inform your work and the work of the team.
* Support people accessing the Local to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
* Welcome people when they access the Local and walk alongside them through the intake and assessment process.
* Develop daily living skills and capacity for self-care.
* Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated, integrated response to people's recovery goals.
What You'll Bring
* Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/or Advanced training will also be considered as an alternative to tertiary qualifications.
* Ability to share learnings from your personal story in an appropriate and purposeful manner to support, empower, speak about the times of hopelessness and the importance of hope, and support the recovery of clients.
* Previous experience in using lived experience and expertise in a dedicated Peer role strongly desirable.
* Experience, expertise and/or desire in working directly with people with mental health issues, alcohol and/or other drugs challenges, and their families and carers.
