The Senior Project Officer – Systems and Reporting will report to the Team Leader. As the SPO you will lead the strategic development of SCU’s data reporting and analysis. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining data reporting platforms to enable the efficient delivery of government reporting in a timely manner.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Victorian School Building Authority
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the Division
The Asset Management Division helps schools maintain and manage their buildings and grounds and ensures they are more energy efficient. The Division trains school leaders as facilities managers and supports them to develop school maintenance plans. They coordinate programs, assessments, and systems to ensure schools are routinely maintained and cleaned.
The Division includes the Asset Management Branch, School Asset Management Support Branch, Facilities Branch, Maintenance Delivery Branch and the Programs Branch.
About the Role
This role is positioned in the School Cleaning Unit (SCU), Facilities Branch. The SCU is responsible for supporting all Victorian Government Schools with the delivery of cleaning services, including management of the Metropolitan Area-Based School Cleaning Agreements.
The Senior Project Officer – Systems and Reporting will report to the Team Leader. As the SPO you will lead the strategic development of SCU's data reporting and analysis. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining data reporting platforms to enable the efficient delivery of government reporting in a timely manner.
Key accountabilities include:
* Data Reporting : Responsible for data reporting to support executive decision-making and influence the strategic development of government reporting obligations, such as BP3s, PAEC, Budget bids and Ministerial updates. Ensure alignment with departmental objectives by developing and maintaining robust, timely, and automated reporting platforms (e.g., Power Bi) that contribute to policy development and business as usual activities such as financial reporting and invoice validation.
* Data Integrity and Continuous Improvement : Continuously focus on improving systems to enhance SCU's reporting capabilities. Creatively develops options in a changing organisational environment. Apply strict data principles—such as accuracy, integrity, consistency, testing, and validation—to ensure precise reporting and optimise cross-platform integration.
* Technical Expertise : Provide support to the broader SCU team as the Subject Matter Expert in the Department's Asset Information Management System (AIMS), and any other systems used by the SCU and broader Department. Support the SCU's leadership team to make decisions in situations where there is some, but not definitive, precedent regarding changes in systems and their potential impact on data reporting.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Desirable: Demonstrated experience in similar role within government
* Essential: Extensive experience working with databases, Microsoft Excel and business intelligence systems, such as PowerBi for data visualisation and reporting.
* Essential: Intermediate Level of MS Power Point, MS Planner, MS Teams, MS Words, MS Project, and SharePoint
* Essential: 1-3 years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field
* Desirable: An appropriate tertiary qualification in fields such as accounting, finance, actuarial science, data science, business analytics, or statistics.
