The successful candidate will be responsible for managing work gangs, ensuring the efficient use of resources, monitoring performance, and upholding safety standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The position is based in Canungra & Boonah, but you may be required to work from any of Council's offices or facilities within the Scenic Rim.Key Responsibilities include:Control and manage work gangs to execute various construction and maintenance projects in accordance with established work practices.Supervise, mentor, and set clear work outcomes for team members to ensure project efficiency.Oversee the security and condition of all Council vehicles, plant, resources, and equipment used in assigned projects.Review work procedures and techniques regularly to improve work gang efficiency and effectiveness.Monitor and manage project expenditure, ensuring compliance with budget, and report any significant variations to senior management for immediate action.Ensure completed projects meet high standards of performance and comply with safety requirements.Assess and review personnel performance and work standards, advising Supervisors of any substandard performance.Provide input on training needs for relevant personnel and assist in on-the-job training.Maintain accurate records and provide timely reports and briefings to keep senior management informed of project progress and any emerging issues.Occasionally assist with basic labouring duties as required.Comply with Council policies, procedures, and safety regulations to deliver quality and safe services.About you…Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) is desirable.Hold a current General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) card.Possess a current C Class (Standard) Driver Licence.Strong technical knowledge of road construction, maintenance, and bitumen sealing practices.Demonstrated experience in managing work gangs and supervising road and bridge construction/maintenance activities.Ability to understand and interpret civil construction plans, rise and fall levelling, and manage the budgetary aspects of projects.Familiarity with relevant statutory requirements and Council policies and procedures.Basic communication, numeracy, and computing skills.Experience in delivering Toolbox Talks and providing practical, on-the-job training to team members.What's In it for you?A base salary between $71,240.97 to $76,172.99 + Superannuation.Fantastic leave provisions, salary packaging benefits and a flexible, family friendly environment, discounted private health insurance and discounted gym membership.This position comes with a commuter vehicle use.Work in a region with unique natural landscapes, a hidden gem, not far from the major centers in SEQ.How to applyIf this sounds like the position for you, don't delay - Apply now!Cover Letter that tells us why YOU WANT this role.
