About the Role
The Registered Midwife (RM) provides safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice to patients at Grampians Health – Horsham, within person-centred and evidence-based frameworks.
* Be a member of the multidisciplinary health care team using contemporary standards and evidence to underpin practice.
* Plan, implement and evaluate evidence based direct clinical nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform all duties in accordance with the NMBA Registered Midwife Standards of Practise to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for patients
* Provide skilled and timely nursing care in a way that ensures the rights, confidentiality, dignity and respect of people are upheld
* Advocate for patients, promoting their independence and involvement in care decision-making, whilst ensuring the wellbeing and safety of patients is prioritised
* Provide appropriate care of the newborn, including identification of abnormality or morbidity and instigation of appropriate intervention
* Provide care to Special Care Nursery (SCN) neonates both in the SCN or when ‘rooming in’ with their mothers
* Function in accordance with the law, regulations, policies and procedures affecting nursing practice
Skills & Experience
* Current Midwifery Registration with AHPRA
* Demonstrated ability to provide effective midwifery and care of the newborn
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Commitment to continuous quality improvement, customer service and patient centred care
* Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Registered Midwife Grade 2 (YS2-YS8) which ranges from $41.17 - $50.68 per hour.
