About the RoleJoin our team as a Nurse Unit Manager on a Full Time ongoing basis to work at Dandenong Hospital. The Nurse Manager will lead the multi-disciplinary team and will provide specialist nursing skills to consumers of the Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU). This position is a clinical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operations, clinical outcomes and management of SECU staff. You will work in partnership with the consultant psychiatrists and other senior clinicians to provide strong leadership and ensure sound governance structures and processes, and the delivery of the set budgetary and KPI targets and to provide regular reports on service performance.
As an experienced Nurse Manager, you will demonstrate excellent clinical skills in working with our consumers who face complex issues. You have extensive experience in Mental Health care and knowledge of a broad range of diagnoses. You have established leadership and management skills and you empower your team through showcasing your critical thinking, clinical excellence and safety focus in a supportive and excellence driven way.
Using your excellent communication skills, you work closely with a varied team of Mental Health and allied professionals across Monash Health with the sole purpose of delivering exceptional care at all times.

Southern Synergy supports the Mental Health Programs with specialist research innovations. The program has five PARCS (Prevention and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women's only PARCS, an Extended Care PARCS and Youth PARCS, and two Community Care Units providing community mental health recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation for consumers. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high-quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, patients, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce.
About Unit 4 - Secure Extended Care UnitSecure Extended Care Unit (Unit 4) is a 50 bed Inpatient Unit based at Dandenong Hospital. SECUs provide medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder with an associated significant disturbance in behaviour that preclude their living in a less restricted environment. SECUs represent the highest level of care on the continuum of mental health services and provide extended clinical treatment, supervision and support for those whose needs cannot be met adequately by other available programs and services.
Our collaborative multi-disciplinary team made up of: Social workers; Occupational Therapists; Clinical and Neuro Psychologist; Exercise Physiologist; Dietician; Music Therapist; Psychiatrists and Nurses provide targeted treatment and rehabilitation programs that maximise individual functioning, minimise the barriers to recovery, and promote return to community living.
