The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is a historic and transformative endeavour for Australia.The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.We are currently seeking proactive EL 1 Combat Systems Engineers to join our Technical Division.These roles do not require Defence experience exclusively and are open to Engineering Professionals from applicable industries.Some of the areas we are looking to recruit to include:Electronic Warfare, Radar and Other Sensors.Masts, associated sensors and Mast Raising Equipment.Weapons discharge, stowage and embarkation including Fire Control, Vertical Launch Systems, Weapons and Payloads Systems.Combat Information System and processing.Combat System architectures including integration and security.Communications (internal and external).Submerged Signal Ejectors and Deployables.Navigation Systems.Small arms and ordnance.Your role may range from being technically focused on singular areas to a broad portfolio, depending on your area of work and expertise.You may also have the opportunity to work across other technical fields within the division.As an EL 1 Combat Engineer you will:Lead, plan and deliver critical and very complex engineering activities within a specialist field and provide advice under broad direction.Translate and apply high level goals and outcomes, identify issues and uncertainties and incorporate these into advice, planning, decision making and implementation.Implement engineering knowledge and processes within a specialist field to develop advancements to established engineering principles, techniques and methods.Evaluate technical and design packages, including scoping, planning, and reviewing, to maintain the design intent through life for the relevant Combat System.Provide Combat System design input through the tri-lateral partnership to the design evolution.Execute assigned Safety Delegations through leading and ensuring safety aspects have been considered and addressed.Support for relevant Whole of Submarine Safety Case (WSSC) approval, amendment and review.Support the management of Key Hazard Certificates and permissions to operate (i.e.Control Certificates) within scope of delegation.Provide research and recommendations at the appropriate level for Upkeep, Upgrade and Update.Research, recommend, and endorse relevant submarine operating documentation.Support other duties as assigned.You may also be required to assist in supporting further development of the Directorate's Technical capability as well as the greater ASA business.This is an exciting, unique and intent through life.The Sovereign Submarine Capability branch provides the project engineering workforce and ensures the build and sustainment meets the design intent.The Technical Base Branch (Combat Systems) is responsible for the provision of deep Engineering and Scientific capabilities that enables and informs the Technical Authority.As a member of the Technical Division, you will continue to grow your subject matter expertise, be accountable for exercising any assigned authorities and Technical Regulatory Authority delegations and providing objective quality evidence.You will be provided
