The team
The Communications and Corporate Affairs Group builds and leverages media and strategic stakeholder relationships to improve awareness and understanding of ASIC’s mandate and outcomes. It manages external, digital and internal communications, and delivers ASIC’s consumer education and Moneysmart.
The role
Reporting to ASIC’s Head of External Communications, as Senior Manager – Enforcement Communications, you will:
1. Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on media engagement, stakeholder strategies, and enforcement-related messaging.
2. Develop and lead initiatives to proactively build public and media understanding of ASIC’s enforcement work.
3. Partner with the media unit to manage responses to news and media inquiries affecting ASIC.
4. Collaborate across communications and corporate affairs to amplify enforcement messaging through speeches, events, reports, and campaigns.
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with key media and stakeholders to support ASIC’s strategic and enforcement priorities.
6. Monitor and evaluate communication activities to enhance impact and effectiveness.
About you
With a degree in communications, law, or a related field, you bring over 10 years of experience in senior media relations and strategic communications. You excel at distilling complex, technical content into clear, accessible messaging for a range of external audiences across various platforms. Experience within law enforcement, regulatory bodies, or legal firms is highly regarded, as is your established network with key Australian journalists in the general news, business, crime, and legal affairs reporting rounds. You are adept at managing issues and crises within large, multifaceted organisations.
You thrive in high-pressure environments, managing multiple projects with sound judgment and strategic foresight. Your ability to influence and advise senior leaders and technical experts ensures effective decision-making and communication. Strong relationship management skills enable you to engage confidently with key stakeholders, driving effective communication and outcomes. With a proactive and solution-focused approach, you consistently deliver results with clarity and precision.
