Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the southern half of NSW. What you'll be doing:The Sterilisation Technician is primarily responsible for the preparation, sterilisation, storage and thermal disinfection of reusable medical & surgical instruments and equipment to prevent the transmission of infection, working within a large team under routine supervision.
Selection Criteria:
Completion of a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services at TAFE, or equivalent (enables appointment to Grade 2) or working towards completion of a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services at TAFE or equivalent (enables appointment at Grade 1, and on supply of completed Cert III, incumbent will move to a Grade 2)
Physically capable of carrying out all duties standing for long periods, lifting, pushing and pulling loads, as outlined in the Job Demands Checklist for this role.
Demonstrated interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow directions from line management and senior staff and work independently under routine supervision.
Ability to relate well to others and work effectively as a member of a team.
Ability to apply a problem-solving approach to work tasks.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases: This is a Category ‘A’ position. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
