About the Role
The overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Residential Care is to provide care and/or support to children and young people, in out of home care and/or living within at risk families. The care and support provided by Youth Workers will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities to support development of positive self-regard, to support community inclusion, to support positive relations with family of origin and to contribute to placement stability.
We're currently looking for Part-Time and Casual staff, to service our Southeast Region – encompassing Logan, Ipswich, Gold Coast, and Surrounding areas.
Permanent Part-Time Rates starting at $37.34 per hour (excluding allowances).
Casual Rates starting at $46.68 per hour (excluding allowances).
This role involves being the primary caregiver during shift, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish a consistent routine. Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you'll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young individuals with complex issues.
What a day in the life of a Residential Youth Worker looks like:
1. Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person.
2. Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals.
3. Promoting good hygiene and nutrition.
4. Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports.
5. Flexibility is key; availability for sleepover, awake and weekend shifts is essential.
Shift lengths vary between 6, 8 12 & 16 hours.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
6. A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field
7. Current Blue Card (Working with Children's Check QLD)
8. Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
9. Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training
10. Current Queensland Drivers Licence
11. The ability to provide two recent referees of supervisors
12. Availability to work - day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers is essential for current needs.

20. Able Respond to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance
21. Understand of provision of care in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999
