Role - Graduates
The primary focus of a range 1 classroom teacher is further developing skills and competencies to become an effective practitioner under structured support and guidance from experienced teachers.
These teachers teach a variety of students and are accountable for delivering their programs effectively. Range 1 classroom teachers operate under general direction within established work practices and documented priorities, contributing to the development of school policies and programs as needed.
The role involves classroom management, subject content, and teaching practice. New entrants receive structured support, mentoring, and guidance from experienced teachers.
Under guidance, new entrants will plan and teach groups of students in one or more subjects, participating in induction programs and professional learning activities designed to ensure integration of curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy across the school.
Teachers at this level are responsible for teaching their own classes and may assist in policy development, project teams, and co-curricular activities.
Responsibilities - Graduates
* Plan and implement a range of teaching programs or courses of study
* Teach an area of the curriculum or general curriculum to a year level
* Monitor and evaluate student progress in key learning areas
* Implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
* Maintain records of class attendance and record student progress
* Implement effective student management consistent with the school charter
* Work with a mentor to develop a professional portfolio
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising student activities, contributing to co-curricular programs, and supporting the overall vision of the school.
Who May Apply - Graduates
Applicants must have completed their course requirements and graduated within the last 4 years. They must also be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
