About the role
K&L Gates’ Labour, Employment & Workplace Safety group provides advice and representation to employers about all aspects of the employment relationship. The team is recognised as leaders in employment, industrial relations and workplace safety law.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Lawyer to join our Labour, Employment & Workplace Safety practice. You will be working on both advice, transactional and litigation matters across the scope of employment and safety matters.
What does the role involve?
* Representing employers in employment-related disputes such as unfair dismissal, discrimination, and general protection claims;
* Advising and representing employers in significant and often high-profile work health and safety investigations and prosecutions;
* Responding to regulatory investigations and prosecutions;
* Advising on novel and complex employment queries;
* Advising on and conducting workplace investigations on issues such as bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment;
* Negotiating, drafting and providing advice on employment related documents including, contracts of employment, executive employment arrangements, service agreements and workplace policies;
* Advising on discipline and termination of employment;
* Litigating matters in the State and Federal Courts, Tribunals and Commissions and utilising complaint handling and alternative dispute resolution techniques, such as mediation and conciliation;
* Advising on strategic compliance to achieve desired client outcomes;
* Providing employment law support on an array of commercial and transactional issues including mergers and acquisitions, share sale arrangements, corporate restructures, transfer of business and transfer of employment situations as well as non-compliance with legal and regulatory matters.
You will be working closely with the Partners of the team. The work is complex and challenging, and you will often be required to turn around tasks quickly. However, you will also be well supported and given opportunities to grow and further develop your skills.
About you

To be successful in this role you will have 3 to 5 years post admission experience at a well-regarded firm in their employment and workplace safety team. You will have demonstrated experience in workplace safety matters from both a front end and litigious perspective.
You should be practical and proactive in your approach, possess strong problem solving skills and be willing to expand your skills. A high level of client service is expected, as are excellent organisation, written and oral communication skills.
