About the Role We are looking for another enthusiastic Principal Aquatic Ecologist?to join our team. We are seeking someone with a current boat licence and strong skills in Australian freshwater and marine survey techniques, knowledge and understanding of aquatic ecosystems, understanding of water science/chemistry, and in-depth knowledge of aquatic fauna. You will have the opportunity to deliver ecological assessments, environmental management and conservation planning solutions on both large- and small-scale projects throughout Australia, primarily Queensland and New South Wales for a variety of clients. The role will involve assessments in accordance with State and Commonwealth guidelines, data management, report preparation, proposal preparation, client liaison, and project and budget management. About You To be successful in this role you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Freshwater Ecology/Biology/Marine/Environmental Sciences Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role Demonstrated experience in aquatic/marine surveys and reporting and waterway management Knowledge of Queensland and New South Wales aquatic/marine flora and fauna species, including skills in identification, handling and management Experience with both boat and backpack electrofishing and macroinvertebrate (preferably AusRivAS) survey techniques Experience in planning, coordinating and undertaking aquatic/marine ecological fieldwork Knowledge of Environmental Impact Statement requirements in Queensland or New South Wales relating to aquatic ecology Working knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental legislation Willingness and capability to conduct remote field work Demonstrated data analysis and report writing skills Strong time and project management skills A commitment to safety and safe work practices Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work well with a variety of other people and work safely in the field Current driver's licence – manual vehicle preferred. Current boat licence.
