What’s on offer?
We currently have a vacancy for a Laboratory Technician to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at our Eastern Creek site. This position will suit either entry level or experienced candidates looking to take the next step in their career.
You’ll be Accountable for
The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of asphalt, aggregates and bitumen to relevant standard methods in our NATA Laboratory, as well as monitoring compaction and conducting testing in the field. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager your responsibilities will include;
1. Sampling and testing asphalt, aggregates and bitumen including onsite sampling and compaction monitoring.
2. The hands-on, day-to-day management of sampling and testing in accordance with specified requirements.
3. The handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standards
4. Management of reporting, record keeping and calibrations including reporting non-conforming product.
5. Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounds.
6. Providing technical support to production departments.
7. Maintain the laboratory in accordance with NATA requirements.
8. Travel will be required, based on the needs of the business.
9. Dayshift, nightshift and some weekend work will be required.

13. Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others and to work as part of an efficient team
14. Current and valid Driver’s Licence
15. Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (is advantageous)
16. Previous experience in heavy industries or an interest in this field of work
17. Be willing to travel as away work will be required
18. Ideally you will have an understanding of the asphalt, cement of quarries industries.
19. Having a demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories would be viewed favourably, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
20. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
