Role Details
The Career Support Officer is a role within People and Performanceand is accountable to the Manager, Career Support for:
• Identifying and negotiating suitable alternative placementsfor work injured and excess employees.
• Establishing and maintaining the reporting requirements forexcess employees as determined by the Commissioner for PublicSector Employment.
• Compiling and analysing statistical data and formulatingreports on human resources activity, including excess employees andtargeted/voluntary separation packages.
• Preparing and developing briefings, reports, correspondence,and other documentation in relation to work injured and excessemployees.
• Undertaking and delivering human resource (HR) relatedspecial projects and programs.
• Applying early intervention measures in response to reportedincidents and workers compensation claims.
• Providing comprehensive return to work services, includingthe development and implementation of recovery / return to workplans.
Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Provide case management services to work injured and excessstaff that includes facilitating the job matching and transitionprocess, providing career advice, support with preparing jobapplications and attending interviews, and the identification andcoordination of retraining opportunities.
2. Deliver HR related projects and programs including coordinationof separation packages in accordance with the relevantTreasurer’s Guideline and industrial instruments.
3. Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders on all mattersassociated with redeployment and career development processes.
4. Contribute to the development of key performance indicatorsrelated to DHS excess employees and HR special projects.
5. Develop communication strategies to disseminate outcomes andachievements regarding the management of DHS excess and unattachedemployees.
6. Provide a confidential, effective, and timely human resourcemanagement advisory and consultancy service in accordance with therelevant legislation, regulations, government policies andstandards on a broad range of activities.
7. Monitoring and reviewing responses to incidents and undertakefurther investigations or follow-up actions.
8. Assessing injured workers recovery and return to work needs,identifying the most appropriate and efficient facilities andservices required to achieve an early, safe, and sustained returnto work outcome.
Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classificationlevel of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or theDepartment. The responsibilities as specified above may be alteredin accordance with the changing requirements of the role.
Special Conditions
National Police Check required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Essential Qualifications
Must be certified Return to Work Coordinator (as per theReturn-to-Work Act 2014)
