This role is classified as Level 3 (with a base salary range of $86,967-$94,129 depending on experience penalties) under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement. Our Canberra Bureau is the central point of our political coverage and plays a key role in informing and educating Australian audiences on political matters. The Role Reporting to the Canberra Bureau Chief, the Political Correspondent, Canberra will be doing the following: Cover major National and International stories across TV, radio and online platforms often with irregular hours. A strong focus is required on the domestic political agenda. Co-ordinate and collaborate with Craft Editors and Camera Operators to deliver accurate, quality news packages and meet broadcasting deadlines. Report live from the field on breaking stories; presenting to camera and providing video web reports; provide Q and A material for Radio. File accurate, timely online copy & social media posts subject to our policy. Develop and maintain political contacts and propose story ideas in a range of areas, including national politics, foreign policy, immigration and defence. Providing production support for other journalists in the newsroom when required. About You Ideally, you will have: Proven experience as a reporter with a strong understanding of television, audio and digital production techniques, and accomplished script-writing ability A thorough knowledge of National and International affairs as well as the current Australian political landscape Evidence of commitment to breaking news Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality interviews and strong writing, broadcast and presentation skills Please include links to your showreel or other examples of your work in your cover letter as part of your application.
