It has been functioning for over 13 years and is equipped with modern medical equipment and state-of-the-art technology. The Practice Principal is an adjunct JCU lecturer, PEP tutor, and an accredited GMT registrar training supervisor. They are a training practice with dedicated protected teaching sessions for their GPs once a week.The clinic is located in the center of town, 1.5 km away from the hospital, and 2 km from the main shopping center. It has a pathology and a dental clinic beside it, along with a team of visiting allied health professionals, including a Tele-Psychologist/Psychiatrist, Exercise Physiologist, Diabetic Educator, Gynaecologist, Optometrist, Mental Health Nurse, and Audiologist.There is a full-time Practice Manager on site every day, along with 4 nurses who assist the doctors in running the Chronic Disease Clinic. The Medical Centre also has a dedicated Skin Clinic equipped with a HD Molemax and is an allocated Covid vaccination clinic. The main clientele includes young families, retirees, mine workers, and travelers, as the Bruce Highway crosses the township. The practice offers family medicine covering broad general practice and occupational health, with the right to private practice at Sarina Hospital. Referrals are made to the base hospital, and the practice is equipped for Telehealth conferences with a dedicated room for telehealth.Sarina is a close-knit community with strong community support, and the doctors maintain good relationships with their patients. They hold occasional health awareness seminars involving the community. Sarina has a small rural hospital with 16 beds and an aged care facility. Most referrals are managed by the Mackay Base Hospital and private hospitals in the region. The practice frequently hosts visiting specialists. There is a pathology collection center and a full-time Medical Imaging Center, including ultrasound and echo facilities in Sarina. Sarina is supported by the NQPHN, which aids GPs through various allied health services, coordination of continuous medical education workshops, and organizing meetings.About Sarina:Sarina is a rural town with a population of approximately 15,000 people, situated 35 km south of Mackay. It is surrounded by 5 lovely beaches, providing access to recreational activities, boating, and fishing. The Whitsunday Islands are further north, offering easy access to view the Great Barrier Reef. The town has a public high school, state and a Catholic private primary school, and family day-care services. Children travel to private high schools in Mackay, with bus services provided for workers and children traveling to Mackay.There are two coal export facilities approximately 10 km away, along with a sugar mill and an alcohol distillery. Industries such as dairy, cattle grazing, tropical fruit growing, horticulture, aquaculture, fishing, and tourism contribute to the region's development. It has a tropical climate, with daily flights to and from Mackay to Brisbane and neighboring cities. Opportunities for family, spouses, and partners for work are greater in Mackay and the neighboring coal mines.Position Description:The practice is offering a full-time GP position from a single practice location, remunerated as a percentage of the doctor's gross billings. The doctor will work weekday morning and afternoon sessions (nominally 8 hours per day) with an optional weekday afternoon off duty; the doctor can work Saturdays on a 1:4 rotation.Some procedural skills, such as minor operations including skin excisions, curettes, and biopsies, will be advantageous but not necessary, as supervision and training will be provided. The practice also looks after nursing home and palliative care patients, with an approximate patient load of 150 per week.After Hours:The clinic opens on Saturdays, requiring doctors to work a 1:4 rotation on Saturdays.
