The purpose of this role is to provide Datacom and the customer with network solutions, solution implementation, and timely updates, all whilst maintaining a balanced approach to customer service and team collaboration. As a Network Engineer, you will work across several of our Federal Government client accounts in an agile secure environment to provide security and network solutions that meet or exceed the ISM requirements as well as relevant ISO standards.This is a full-time permanent position based in our ACT office. This role will be working on an on-call roster with evening and after-hours work as agreed with the customer. As this role will be working with our Federal Government clients, Australian Citizenship with eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance is required. Candidates with current NV1, NV2 or OSA will be preferred.What You’ll DoAs an Associate Network Engineer, you will be a member of a highly skilled network engineering team, working on but not limited to:Maintaining corporate data communications network services, components, and associated infrastructure under close supervisionMaintaining technical documentation, reports, and records regarding infrastructure solutionsConducting acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipmentTesting, implementing, monitoring, and tuning networking software/hardware to ensure optimum systems performance and highlight potential issuesPerforming hands-on systems engineering tasks under the guidance of more experienced network engineersProviding a low level of escalated technical support to both network users and help desk staffBuilding strong stakeholder relationships with the team and customerProviding on-call or after-hours support as neededWhat You Will Bring2+ years working in a professional services environmentDeveloping knowledge of Networking and Firewalling covering Datacentres, Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs)Understanding the concepts of networking and the security associated with networkingComputer skills (Linux preferred)Analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong customer service focus with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)Achieved or working towards tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering2+ years networking experience and coding in Perl and Python would be desirableWhy Join Us Here at Datacom?Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest suppliers of Information Technology professional services.
