Practice Information: The clinic is located in the Gladstone Central Shopping Centre in West Gladstone and is part of a group of practices. The practice has been open since 2001 and has developed a long-standing patient base. The practice has 5 GPs (3FTE), 3 nurses, 3 receptionists and a practice manager. The practice prides itself on providing high-quality family care from birth through to old age. They also operate a skin cancer clinic for diagnosis and management of malignant skin conditions. They are generally a private billing practice although exceptions can be made for those with genuine financial need. The practice has a QML pathology collection facility on site and have a pharmacy adjoining. About Gladstone, Gladstone is the industrial hub of QLD. located 600km north of Brisbane and 100km South of Rockhampton we are situated near the Tropic of Capricorn. You can expect a tropical environment with hot summers and mild winters. Gladstone has a public Marina and surrounding parklands which is great for families. Position Description: The appointment is for a full-time General practitioner in a multi-disciplined General Family Practice. It is envisioned the candidate will work 5 days per week (8am – 5.00pm) and alternate Saturday (9.00am to 12.00pm). The following is a list of typical duties at the clinic the candidate would be expected to have qualifications to perform competently. Service Requirements of the Position Outline Details Including: Pre-Requisite Skills General Practice: Semi-rural general family orientated medical practice Medical: Knowledge of chronic disease management – diabetes, respiratory medicine, acute and chronic cardiovascular disease, geriatrics, paediatrics, ENT, dermatology, cancer diagnosis, management plans, joint disease, pain management / appropriate diagnosis referrals and management plans. Surgical: Minor surgical procedures within clinic only, excision skin lesion/repair of wounds/removal of foreign bodies in the eyes, drainage abscess, treatment of warts-non-manipulative orthopaedics- removal of hormone implants, cortisone joint injections and minor skin cancer surgical procedures. Obstetrics/Gynaecology: Contraceptive advice, STD management, antenatal care, no confinements or labour ward, pap smear tests, postnatal care, breast disease. Anaesthetics: Local anaesthetics only, nerve blocks for minor regional procedures. Emergency: Acute respiratory medicine, asthma managements, cardiovascular medicine, stabilisation prior to evacuation to local hospital, ECG interpretation, IB access, airway management, IV fluids, drug knowledge for anaphylaxis, epilepsy, pulmonary oedema treatment. Mental Health: Counselling skills, depression/anxiety/relationship skills, knowledge of psychiatric drugs, suicide intervention/prevention, situational crisis intervention, adolescent issues. Other Disciplines: I nterpretation of ultrasounds and x-rays, in-patient care, attendance nursing home visits and home visits. Special Skills Required: Diagnosis and management of skin cancer, dermoscopy would be useful but is learnt in clinic as well as skills for SolarScan equipment After Hours: Yes, alternating shifts with other GPs for patients of our practice only. Qualifications and Experience: AHPRA registration Plus 2 years experience as a General Practitioner Salary Information: 55% gross medical billings or $80/ hour for first 12 weeks whichever is greater.
