About the role
We have an opportunity for a Vineyard Operator to join our Barossa Vineyards team.
Reporting to the Vineyard Manager, you will carry out a broad range of day-to-day viticultural activities.
You will be responsible for:
* Conducting the full range of day-to-day viticulture activities from hands-on manual tasks (pruning, training, trellising) to the operation of complicated viticultural machinery (barrel pruning, leaf plucking, trimmers), including mixing and application of agrochemicals and use and maintenance of irrigation systems.
* Ability to work with AgCode and other company-wide computer systems to conduct required computer-based tasks, including task and payroll recording and vineyard data collection and assessments.
* Conduct vineyard maturity sampling in accordance with SOP, follow lab procedures for maturity testing, and enter results.
* Participate in harvest operations as coordinated.
* Actively participate in all Continuous Improvement processes, PPS (Practical Problem Solving) & P&R (Problem and Resolution) activities.
About you
Our ideal candidate will bring relevant field experience and exposure to mechanical operations, but ultimately, we’re open on the sort of experience you may have – you don’t need to have previous vineyard experience. We’re searching for someone who is motivated, reliable, team-oriented, and passionate about a career in the wine industry.
Key requirements:
* Outstanding level of commitment, drive, and initiative.
* Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others.
* Willingness to tolerate outside conditions – often hot/cold and dusty.
* Good communication, organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills, and able to prioritise tasks.
* Able to perform manual handling tasks (a medical check will be part of the process).
* Current driver’s license.
