The Role
As a manager within the Military Mental Health Training and Promotions team, you will lead a small, skilled, and highly motivated team in the conduct of promotion, prevention, and early intervention activities.
This role involves the coordination and delivery of pre-developed mental health and wellbeing programs for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members. The role requires you to work as part of a national team while fostering collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in your region.
This role requires regular overnight interstate travel, which occasionally includes work on weekends and outside of core business hours (with accrual of time off in lieu). You will promote evidence-based health promotion practices and strategies, and support initiatives to measure their success and provide future recommendations. This role may expand to include the development of training packages.
About our Team
The Military Mental Health Training and Promotions team sits within the Directorate of Military Mental Health and Psychology.
The Directorate of Military Mental Health and Psychology is involved in a range of activities supporting the mental health and psychological effectiveness of ADF personnel, including training and education, mental health support programs, policy and governance, organisational climate surveys, and monitoring and evaluation.
Within this Directorate, you will be part of an agile and geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary team that provides mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention services to support ADF members.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate or possess the following skills and attributes:
* A strong understanding of mental health issues facing ADF Members, and a commitment to promoting and delivering mental health and wellbeing services in Defence.
* Relevant tertiary qualification – mental health professional, health professional, health promotions (or related), AND work experience in a relevant setting.
* Experience conducting health/mental health promotion activities.
* Experience facilitating face-to-face and online education/training.
* Proficiency across a variety of software, training platforms, and for training delivery
* A self-starter - capable of working independently and collaboratively as required.
* Leadership experience within mental health, health, or wellbeing services.
* Highly developed communication / interpersonal skills.
* Experience liaising with a diverse range of individuals to achieve organisational outcomes.
* Strong administration skills.
* Current drivers licence
* Ability to conduct overnight travel and occasional weekend work.
