The Blood Collection Service is responsible for providing collection services across numerous sites within the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). The Pathology Collections Clinical Nurse Educator will be part of a large and diverse team of pathology collectors and administration staff (classified as Registered Nurses, Technical Assistants, Administration Officers), and will work with Pathology staff and the LHD to provide a high level service.
What we can offer you Accrued Days Off in addition to Annual LeaveGenerous salary packaging options and other fringe benefitsCorporate wellbeing programs, including the Fitness PassportLearning and development opportunities, including in-house training with RTO My Health LearningWhat you'll be doing This position will provide training and development support to the pathology collections teams at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Balmain Hospital and potential future sites, including collections in areas such as inpatient, outpatient, haematology, paediatrics, neonatal and home collection services. The position is also responsible for the provision of high-level person-centred nursing care within the pathology collection department and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care. The Clinical Nurse Educator will provide consistent assessment, orientation, and training to all staff on commencement in their role, maintain competency in blood collection for existing staff, and provide expert consultation and educational support to staff, patients, and families within the Pathology Collection Service.
Minimum Requirements Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and relevant post registration experience in the specialty.Holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications, or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.Demonstrated understanding and experience in various teaching methodologies including the ability to plan, conduct and evaluate unit-based education.Demonstrated effective and high-level communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills in addition to proven ability to motivate and engage people in the clinical setting.Demonstrated ability and commitment to collaborative and integrated multidisciplinary teamwork, aimed at building and strengthening partnerships with consumers and key stakeholders to provide best practice service delivery.Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous improvement whilst ensuring currency of practice in the relevant specialty.Relevant computer skills including Microsoft Office, database programmes and data entry.Demonstrated compliance with accreditation and all other relevant standards, including evidence of participation in innovation and continuous improvement activities.Working Rights This position is a permanent position.
