The Lead Cyber Security Engineer plays a pivotal role in managing cybersecurity detection, response, and advisory functions. This position is responsible for overseeing security tools and processes, ensuring the organisation's systems, infrastructure, and data remain secure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cybersecurity, strong leadership abilities, and the capacity to excel in fast-paced, high-stakes environments such as healthcare. Key Responsibilities Security Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations of the third-party Security Operations Centre (SOC), ensuring efficient threat detection, response, and incident remediation. Maintain and enhance incident response plans while serving as the lead technical advisor for security incidents. Security Tools and Solutions: Evaluate, recommend, and integrate security tools across on-premises, operational technology (OT), and AWS cloud environments. Conduct proof-of-concept evaluations and support the CISO in refining the cybersecurity strategy. Architecture Advisory: Provide expert guidance on secure system design and implementation. Collaborate with IT and development teams to embed security into solutions and review proposed changes for adherence to security standards. Testing and Assurance: Manage security testing programs, including vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and red/blue team exercises. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to remediate identified vulnerabilities. Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Evaluate and manage third-party security providers to ensure delivery of high-quality services aligned with organisational goals and risk thresholds. Leadership and Mentorship: Foster a culture of security awareness, lead training programs, and serve as a trusted advisor to non-cybersecurity professionals. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. 5 years of cybersecurity experience, with expertise in security operations, architecture, or incident response.
