Job Title: Deputy Director of Pharmacy
The Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital seeks a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to fill the role of Deputy Director of Pharmacy. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and innovative cancer pharmacy services.
About the Role
* This is a permanent full-time position that comes with an attractive salary package.
* The Deputy Director of Pharmacy will oversee the provision and maintenance of exceptional cancer pharmacy services across the hospital.
* You will be responsible for managing a team of pharmacists, technicians, and administration staff, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and maintaining appropriate staffing allocations.
* This role involves both clinical and managerial components related to the Cancer Pharmacy Service at the CMN Hospital.
* As a key member of the pharmacy department, you will contribute to strategic planning, goal setting, and decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure legislative requirements, accreditation standards, and relevant guidelines are implemented and adhered to.
* Deliver patient-centered care by optimizing medication safety and effectiveness.
* Work collaboratively with the Director of Pharmacy and Hospital Executive to achieve strategic business objectives.
* Scope, develop, and implement innovative pharmacy practices and services to improve patient outcomes.
* Coordinate business cases to support new roles and initiatives.
* Foster a culture of learning and development among team members, promoting upskilling and education.
* Liaise with medical and other staff to promote evidence-based practice and economical drug usage.
Requirements
* You must be registered as a practicing pharmacist with AHPRA (or eligible for registration within 3 months).
* Possess post-registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience.
* Have extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice, preferably in a large teaching hospital.
* Be familiar with National Safety and Quality Health Standards and have experience managing pharmacy services accordingly.
* Previous experience in supporting Haematology/Medical Oncology services is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential.
