Contracts Administration (Administration & Office Support) GBK is seeking a passionate and experienced individual with expertise in the CATSI Act to join our dynamic and growing team. In this role, you will support PBCs in the Torres and Endeavour Straits by managing multiple CATSI Act compliance-related projects and delivering innovative, creative solutions. The Organisation Gur A Baradharaw Kod Sea and Land Council Torres Strait Islander Corporation ("GBK") is a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation based in the Torres Strait region. We are the peak body of all Registered Native Title Bodies Corporates ("PBCs") in the Torres Strait – providing Native Title legal support, employment and capacity development services to PBCs and remote First Nation communities. At our core, GBK works with native title holders and stakeholders to achieve economic, social and cultural development for the communities of the Torres and Endeavour Straits. The Role The CATSI Act Compliance Officer is a crucial position at GBK, ensuring compliance with the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act), the Native Title (Prescribed Bodies Corporate) Regulations 1999 (PBC Regulations), and other relevant legislation. This role involves working closely with GBK's member PBCs and various internal teams to ensure both PBC and GBK compliance with these legal frameworks. The position requires significant travel, often for extended periods, to oversee compliance activities. We are looking for a dedicated individual with a deep understanding of the CATSI Act and PBC Regulations, ideally with experience in Native Title or Indigenous corporation governance. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams. The role requires someone comfortable with travel and flexible enough to manage a wide variety of tasks across different locations. Role Responsibilities Oversee the compliance of GBK's member PBCs with the CATSI Act and support the PBC Support Coordinator and Officers. Coordinate reviews of PBC rule books and manage meetings to ensure adherence to governance requirements. Collaborate with the Native Title team to ensure PBC compliance with the Native Title Act and PBC Regulations. Manage the GBK boundary mapping project, working with the PBC Support and Native Title teams. Ensure GBK meets its corporate obligations under the CATSI Act, including organizing board and member meetings. Provide support for secretariat functions such as filing reports with ORIC and maintaining required registers. Work closely with GBK's Corporate Services team, including Travel Officers, to coordinate compliance-related travel. Engage in frequent travel, potentially for up to 7 days at a time, to ensure compliance tasks are completed across various locations.
