We are seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Education Assistants - Mainstream for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.

As an Education Assistant - Mainstream, suitable applicants will help deliver planned education programs to develop young minds. In this role, suitable applicants should collaborate and work in a team environment, possess good written and oral communication skills to implement individual or small group programs and display the ability to support students' general health and well-being.
Suitable applicants with solid behaviour management skills are highly desirable. Suitble applicants will ideally exhibit kindness and compassion while always maintaining consistency when working with students.
Working in a new public primary school presents unique challenges that require a particular skill set and outlook. Suitable applicants should have a 'can do' attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, showing initiative and flexibility within a respectful team environment to produce the best opportunities for students.

10. obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
11. complete the Department’s induction program within 3 months of commencement
12. complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
13. complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within 6 months of appointment
14. complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
