About the Role:
We are continually looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join our team. Our Perth office is currently seeking Senior Associate/Principal Geotechnical Tailings Engineers on a (permanent full-time) basis.
You will work with our well-experienced Civil, Geotechnical, Water and Tailings groups to deliver projects successfully to meet our clients’ needs. At ATC Williams, every role is supported by professionals across the business, and you will have peers, subordinates, and technical experts to share ideas with through the varied nature of work we undertake for clients in the mining and resources, energy and property/general infrastructure sectors across Australia and globally.
You will have the opportunity to challenge yourself and fellow professionals through the works we undertake covering civil and geotechnical site investigation, materials test planning, laboratory testing, numerical modelling, engineering analyses and design, construction, field inspections and tailings life cycle management (from concept to closure).

Key responsibilities and activities include:
1. Uncompromising commitment to safety in all aspects of your work including Safety in Design and promoting safety culture.
2. Developing scope of work and costing at proposal stage for various projects.
3. Managing projects from proposal preparation through fieldwork to final reporting.
4. Manage geotechnical investigations including site work, laboratory and desktop investigations and prepare factual and interpretative reports as required by our clients.
5. Using your expertise and experience in investigation and design to contribute to geotechnical and other multidisciplinary projects.
6. Providing technical input in design and documentation to ensure high quality of work including regular reviews and supervision of other professionals.
7. Preparing technical documents and managing all project correspondence to ensure project success.
8. Providing direction to technical staff to support progress at all stages of project delivery.
9. Developing engineering and practical solutions using fundamental engineering principles to add value to our client needs.
10. Ensuring that the projects are completed on time, quality and budget and to required standards.
11. Maintaining relationships with existing clients and work with relevant leaders and professionals to develop new opportunities.
12. Knowledge sharing, mentoring junior staff and working collaboratively with local and global teams.
13. Undertaking research into complex engineering problems and preparing research results for presentations in discipline communities and ATCW knowledge-sharing technical seminars.
14. Enhancing your business development skills through successful delivery of your projects to promote new opportunities.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill requirements include:
1. Qualifications in civil/geotechnical or engineering geology (post graduate qualifications will be an advantage).
2. Senior/Principal Geotechnical Tailings Engineer – Significant experience (12+ years for Senior, 15+ years for Principal) in tailings and geotechnical engineering practice (significant experience in consulting will be an advantage).
3. A successful track record in the planning, managing and undertaking field investigations for all sizes of geotechnical/tailings and geo-environmental projects.
4. Sound knowledge of tailings life cycle management from concept planning, field investigations, design and documentation, construction, operational inspections, closure rehabilitation etc.
5. Demonstrated experience in the preparation of technical reports and client communications.
6. A strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
7. Experience in the mining and resources sector involving civil and geotechnical/tailings, closure and mine site infrastructure engineering projects (experience with local WA market will be an advantage).
8. Ability to apply technical knowledge of geosciences and geo-engineering to solve practical problems.
9. High level of analytical skills including numerical modelling capabilities and ability to translate complex ideas into simple solutions.
10. Excellent communication skills, (verbal and written).
11. Effective client liaison and stakeholder management.
