The Head of Department (HOD) for Information and Digital Technologies, including e-Learning, is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of innovative digital technologies and e-Learning practices. This role ensures that students are provided with high-quality, future-focused learning opportunities that leverage technology effectively. The HOD will manage the Information and Digital Technologies curriculum and lead e-Learning initiatives across the school, contributing to an effective educational environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead the department in the development, delivery, and evaluation of the Information and Digital Technologies curriculum, ensuring alignment with the Australian Curriculum and Queensland Department of Education policies.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in digital learning, including integrating emerging technologies into teaching and learning practices.
* Provide leadership and professional development to staff on the use of e-Learning tools and resources to enhance pedagogical practices.
Curriculum Development and Delivery
* Plan, develop, and review the school's Information and Digital Technologies programs, ensuring they are engaging, relevant, and meet the needs of students at various learning levels.
* Support staff in embedding Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into all learning areas, promoting the use of technology for enhancing teaching and student outcomes.
e-Learning Initiatives
* Lead the school's e-Learning strategy by identifying and implementing digital tools, platforms, and content delivery methods that align with curriculum goals.
* Work collaboratively with other Heads of Department and teaching staff to integrate e-Learning across all faculties and ensure a whole-school approach to digital education.
* Develop digital literacy programs that prepare students for future workplace skills and life in a digital world.
Professional Learning and Development
* Mentor and support staff in improving their digital competencies through workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching.
* Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in digital education and provide advice on best practices and educational technologies.
* Work with teachers to integrate digital learning resources, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), coding programs, and multimedia projects, into classroom activities.
Data Management and Reporting
* Use data-driven approaches to monitor student performance in Information and Digital Technologies, providing regular reports and feedback to senior leadership.
* Ensure compliance with Department of Education ICT policies, including cybersecurity, privacy, and the responsible use of technology by staff and students.
Collaboration and Communication
* Collaborate with IT support teams to ensure the school's technology infrastructure supports effective learning outcomes.
* Establish strong relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners and community organizations, to provide students with real-world learning experiences and opportunities.
* Actively participate in school leadership meetings, contributing to whole-school planning, budgeting, and policy development.
Student Engagement and Support
* Promote Information and Digital Technologies as a key area for student engagement by fostering student interest in subjects such as coding, robotics, digital design, and multimedia production.
* Provide career guidance and support for students pursuing pathways in digital industries.
