About the Role
The Senior Manager, Reviews and Committees, within the Office of the Chief Scientist and Engineer (OCSE), plays a critical role in leading and managing science-driven projects on behalf of both the Chief Scientist & Engineer and the Deputy Chief Scientist & Engineer.
The position focuses on ensuring strategic project delivery, including technical, scientific, and regulatory components of review work across various topics. Responsibilities include developing and implementing project plans, ensuring efficient resource use, meeting reporting requirements, and managing stakeholder relationships through effective communication and negotiation.
Key tasks also include analysing data, writing and reviewing technical reports, providing accurate advice to senior leaders, and preparing complex, confidential briefings. The role requires effective coordination of working groups and consultations to meet deadlines.
Key challenges include managing sensitive consultations with diverse stakeholders, balancing competing priorities with limited resources, and synthesizing complex information to provide valuable insights and advice for decision-makers.

* You have proven experience in leading and managing science-driven projects within government settings.
* You are an expert in overseeing government-commissioned reviews and committee work with a strong evidence-based scientific approach.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategic project plans, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and meeting timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
* You have experience in navigating complex, politically and commercially sensitive environments, balancing competing demands, and maintaining stakeholder engagement.
* You are a strong leader with a track record of driving performance and motivating teams in complex, high-pressure environments.
* You have tertiary qualifications in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
* You have demonstrated experience working at a senior level, delivering specialist and authoritative advice to executive leadership.
* You display strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and interpret complex data and submissions to inform decision-making.
