The Senior Lecturer and Principal Specialty Supervisor in General Practice will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering dynamic and inclusive learning experiences for UQ medical students at the Rockhampton Regional Clinical Unit (RCU). This position is focused on creating an environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging and support, fostering their growth and success in the field of General Practice. By guiding and mentoring students through their clinical placements, you will help them thrive in an atmosphere that encourages their professional and personal development. General Practice clinical placements primarily occur in Years 2 and 4 of the new MD Program, although teaching may extend across all four years, offering a rich opportunity to impact students' education throughout their medical journey. Key responsibilities will include: Teaching: Provide academic leadership, tutorial teaching, and assessments for the General Practice components across all four years of the MD program. Ensure availability of appropriate clinicians and clinical placements, liaising with local GPs, General Practices, and RCU staff to optimize teaching and learning outcomes. Support the induction, professional development, and mentoring of GP clinical teachers, while contributing to curriculum improvements and quality assurance activities. Teaching Impact/Research: Maintain personal academic standing including the pursuit of research and scholarship of teaching and learning Foster and support a research culture within the RCU. Supervision and Researcher Development: Provide supervision to learners in area of expertise where feasible. Foster others in the responsible conduct of research. Citizenship and Service: Contribute proactively and respectfully to the RCU. Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align to the UQ values. This is a teaching focused position. Expert knowledge and experience in a general practice clinical capacity, including evidence of knowledge of current education best practice An established profile in clinical teaching in General Practice A record of contribution to the supervision of medical students Evidence of a contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level. Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the RCU and RCS within healthcare settings at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues and the wider community Highly developed organisational skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex working environment.
