Our client is responsible for biological, chemical, legal, physical and trade measurement, with a vision to provide measurement policy, science and regulation that underpins the economy and well-being of Australia. Their Analytical Services Branch conducts chemical and biological measurement on a wide range of samples including water, soil, food, and pharmaceuticals.
They currently have an opportunity for a Laboratory Technician / Analyst to prepare samples for trace elements and other inorganic analysis in their Inorganics Laboratory in Sydney's north west.
Duties include :
* Sample preparation of environmental and food / biota samples to allow trace elements analysis using ICPMS / ICPOES and CV-AFS instruments.
* Preparing batch QC samples as per their documented method and Quality manual.
* Working within a team environment, prioritising work to achieve targeted turnaround times of results.
* Undertaking laboratory equipment calibration and troubleshooting.
* Understanding and following their WH&S manual and safety SOPs particular to the Inorganic laboratory.
Ideally you will have :
* Tertiary qualifications in science, ideally chemistry or biology.
* Knowledge / experience with sample preparation for trace elements within an analytical or food testing laboratory.
* Knowledge of good laboratory practice within a NATA accredited laboratory.
* A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
* The ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-driven.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Eligibility :
* Must be an Australian citizen and able to secure and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
