We pride ourselves in showing our guests what true Territory hospitality is all about!About The RoleWe are looking for a motivated and experienced GPH-qualified Deckhand / Cruise Attendant to join our team at Darwin Harbour Cruises. This is a casual position, with a planned start date of March 2025.Our Deckhands are customer-facing, involved in activities ranging from maintaining and operating the vessel, right through to supporting hospitality-related tasks to ensure high-quality customer service and experiences for all guests.Working in close collaboration with both marine and hospitality teams, responsibilities include:Collaborate with the Master and crew to prepare the vessel for cruises, managing berthing, controlling mooring lines, and performing deck rounds while addressing engineering and maintenance needs.Deliver high-quality customer service and ensure guest safety by assisting with mobility, following safety procedures from the vessel's Safety Management System (SMS), and conducting lookout duties.Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping, assist with food and beverage service, and manage guest requests by communicating specific needs with the office team.Maintain logbooks, report safety or environmental concerns to the Vessel Master, manage guest complaints with the Cruise Director, and liaise with office managers on cruise-related matters.RequirementsAbout YouThe ideal candidate will be passionate about what they do, the service they deliver, and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests. You will be a team player with a demonstrated positive 'can-do' attitude and have the flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays.QualificationsAustralian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) Certificate of Competency - General Purpose Hand (GPH) (essential).Coxswain/Master/MED/Radio Operator skills (highly regarded).Responsible Service of Alcohol (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement).Food Safety Handling certificate (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement).Provide First Aid & CPR (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement).About YouExcellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.Interest and/or experience in supporting hospitality-related tasks.Basic marine/vessel knowledge and physical fitness (reliable in-water/swimming skills).A well-presented appearance.Basic computer literacy with sound cash handling and stock rotation.Reliable, self-motivated, proactive, and able to demonstrate strong crowd management & public speaking abilities.Strong team ethic with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the needs of others.Have the necessary working entitlements to work in Australia.Must not be affected by sea sickness.A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.To apply, please submit your resume, along with a Cover Letter telling us a little bit about you.
