The WIB Institutional Credit Team is responsible for the approval and management of counterparty credit risk. As a Senior Credit Officer, you will be responsible for the credit approval and risk management of a portfolio, which directly supports WIB’s Financial Institutions, Public Sector and Health (FIPSH) Industry teams. This industry group also includes the Customer Insights and Analytics (CI&A) team, a dedicated global team of analysts that provide deep customer and customer insights. FIPSH coverage spans a portfolio of Bank, Public Sector and NBFI counterparties (Insurance, Funds, Clearing Houses & Securitisation). The Senior Credit officer role is a critical partner in the pre-screening of pipeline opportunities with Relationship Coverage bankers, assessing credit appetite, identifying key issues, providing structuring input on financing options, driving internal analytical work, managing the credit approval process as well as maintaining ongoing credit oversight of portfolio. Responsibilities include: Manage a portfolio of Institutional credit exposures in compliance with WIB’s policies, processes and best practices, including early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans Demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and approval of the credit risk within the business Communicate clearly and concisely with key stakeholders, particularly with respect to any risks outside of risk appetite, required modifications to deal structures or any required additional due diligence necessary for approval Work closely with the business to optimise risk utilisation and maximise WIB’s returns from the defined / available risk appetite Contribute to the strategic positioning of WIB to ensure that credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units’ objectives Contribute to the development of a sound credit culture within the business What’s in it for me? We are seeking a seasoned professional with extensive experience in credit-related roles. You will have a proven track record of at least 10 years, with a history of delegated authority to approve credit risk being a significant advantage. Handling complex transactions under tight schedules, providing solutions, and challenging when necessary are key aspects of this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for presenting analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Leadership capabilities, including negotiating and influencing skills, are crucial. Experience in credit analysis within sectors such as Financial Institutions, Public Sector, Health, and Financial Markets is required. Key Requirements: Extensive experience in a credit-related role (minimum 10 years) Proven ability to approve credit risk Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage deadlines Expertise in handling complex transactions and providing solutions Excellent communication skills for presenting to senior stakeholders Leadership skills with strong negotiating and influencing abilities Experience in credit analysis across various sectors Tertiary qualifications - Business degree or postgraduate finance qualification preferred Industry certifications like AIMR, GARP, or PRMIA are advantageous What’s it like to work there?
